Local Responsibility Area Fire Hazard Severity Map

In 2021, the State of California enacted legislation requiring the State Fire Marshal’s Office to periodically update the fire hazard severity zones in local jurisdiction areas.

On March 24, 2025, the State released the revised Local Responsibility Area Maps. If you are within the San Diego County Fire Protection District and in the Local Responsibility Area, the fire hazard severity zone of your property may have changed.

Please visit the State Fire Marshal’s website . Go to the fourth map down on the website, push on the orange box, and type in your address.  You can then move the middle bar to compare your 2007 designation to your 2025 designation.

For questions, contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal or by phone at 916-633-7655.
