Juvenile dependency court hearings
You can attend a scheduled juvenile dependency court hearing by phone or online using Microsoft Teams. If you need help with this process, please contact your attorney, social worker or the Juvenile Court Business Office.
To appear by phone
- Your attorney or social worker will give you the time, date and place of your hearing.
- Use the chart below to find the courtroom for your hearing.
- Call at the date and time of your scheduled hearing.
- You will be placed in the virtual lobby. The court clerk will ask for your name or number. They will add you to the court hearing when it is time. Keep your microphone on mute unless you speak to the court. This limits background noise.
- If you are accidentally put in another person’s hearing, speak up right away and tell the court. They will ask you to leave the meeting. You will need to call back.
To appear online
- Download or open Microsoft Teams. It is free.
- On a Windows computer, click the Start button and click on Microsoft Teams
- On a smartphone, download the application Microsoft Teams
- Click on the courtroom link
- Click “Join as a Guest.” Remember that everyone, including the judge, can see you. We suggest you wear clothes appropriate for court. Keep your microphone on mute unless you speak to the court. This limits background noise.
- Enter either your name, or if the child is with you, enter the child’s name.
- You will be placed in a virtual waiting room. The court clerk will ask for your name or number and then add you to the court hearing when it is time. Turn on your camera and speaker so you are ready for your hearing.
- If you are accidentally put in another person’s hearing, speak up right away and tell the court. You will need to leave the meeting and link back in to return to the virtual waiting room.
