Brenda Garcia Millan
Group Program Manager

"Do we settle for the world as it is, or do we work for the world as it should be?" - Michelle Obama

Brenda works with County departments, offering resources and guidance to develop sustainability commitments to make their operations more sustainable. During her time at OSEJ, Brenda has also led an air quality emergency relief-program in the South Bay region and helped advance regional initiatives including the establishment of the San Diego Regional Energy Network (SDREN).

Before joining the County, Brenda was a policy analyst at San Diego-based environmental nonprofit and worked as a policy intern at the United States Senate in Washington, DC. In 2018, she obtained a Master’s degree in Global Studies from the University of Oregon and received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach in Spain, where she introduced youth to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Brenda’s work at OSEJ is inspired by her family and South Bay community. When she was a teenager, she migrated to the U.S., and she feels a strong personal connection to the community that welcomed her and the urgency of addressing the environmental injustices that affect them every day.

Outside of work, Brenda likes to exercise, watch soccer games and Turkish soap operas, and plan trips with friends and family. Her most recent trip was to Puerto Vallarta.
